Sunflower Getting Ready To OpenSaturday Morning Market in St. Petersburg, Florida provides an adventure in sites, sounds and smells. Worden Farm contributes to the buzz with their organic sunflowers. During Spring, they are sold in bunches until they run out that day. People come up to hold them and marvel at their beauty, even if they do not purchase a bunch. Around the market, they attract attention as people are carrying them or they are hanging out of their bag. These sunflowers are nature at her best. This was a rare opportnity to see sunflowers in various stages from closed to in-full-bloom. This is art and my camera lens could not be silenced. The result was a study in detail and softness. On a side note about the market, I do have my favorites vendors where I sample their goods, talk with other vendors or just walk the short aisles. As each week passes I am adding more to my list of favorites! My favorite is Eden's Nectar. They have honey from all the seasons and a unique offering, kumquat honey. But it gets better! There are the various flavors to taste of the cream honeys. My favorite is cinnamon, which goes great on a bagel, spoon of peanut butter or in chai tea. Oh yea, I can't forget about the bee pollen. . Right now, sunflowers are in season and are sold in bunches. This weekend there seemed to be more flower buds that had not yet opened.Rev. 16 June 2011 Robert Neff |
