Reconnecting With Memories From Yesteryear from Volume 1 — Private Reflections
I have returned to walk my childhood trails Listen to my feet They are the trail’s catalyst I am bombarded with nature’s scents Triggering passions and memories The frames roll one by one The voices I hear are from my youth Here I walk reconnecting with memories from yesteryears Long since buried under each year’s fallen leaves But never lost This walk is along a path I know A path I now make time to share The trees and paths of my youth are still here Their roots have grown deeper I know this path so well I close my eyes and slow my pace To see everyone and everything as yesterday While the leaves cackle underneath my feet My mind feels the breeze chase the leaves across the grass Lifting them upwards Pushing the memories across my mind Riding the breeze until all tire Then we rest and reflect the distance traveled This is something I had to learn An appreciation of the past To take the time to walk with time Instead of running free Now inflections of youth have given way to maturity Old memories are pushed aside by more recent memories So we may take time to compare our changes to our path with our past ~ Robert Neff � �	Volume 1 — Private Reflections. Our values are based upon our perspective and experiences. When I returned home to lend moral support, I transitioned from the “rat race” to a much slower and distinct pace. This proved to be the fuel needed to explore and understand my experiences and perspective. This transition allowed me to refocus my values. Thus, Private Reflections provides an insight into how my life has been shaped and insights into why I am driven to write.
